I know I'm late to the party, but I'd like to say this thread is awesome.  Great work.

Just tell me, would it be fun if you played just quiet chords?

Nice indeed. Couldn't resist arranging it. I'm blaming you if/when I fail my midterms. Smiley

Hey kids, me again. Since midterms are about 2 days away, I decided to make the best of my time and arrange more songs. I'm hoping to have all 27 songs from the soundtrack arranged some time soon. Oh, and a piano medley of the songs too. Maybe. If I can find a camera.

Here they are, 18 / 27 sheet music arrangements for piano solo: http://goo.sebastianwolff.info/ Oh, and I love feedback. Smiley

List of arrangements (as of 02/04/2009):

01-World of Goo Beginning
02-The Goo Filled Hills
03-Brave Adventurers
04-Another Mysterious Pipe Appeared
05-World of Goo Corporation
06-Regurgitation Pumping Station
07-Threadcutter
08-Rain Rain Windy Windy
09-Jelly
10-Tumbler
11-Screamer
12-Burning Man
19-Hello, MOM
23-The Last of the Goo Balls and the Telescope Operator
25-Red Carpet Extend-o-matic
26-World of Goo Corporation's Valued Customers
27-World of Goo Ending

@dasflux: that sounds truly awesome. What program(s) did you use?

Okay. I was wrong about all the things about Red Carpet. <sigh> Makes me wish I had a piano home. Ah well I can at least try to play it on my guitar. Great work GermanSeabass, keep up the good work and go get those nine songs!

I'm working my way through Best of Times right now. It's simply a magnificent piece, and I'll probably end up arranging a whole orchestral score. Mainly since I need to get better at orchestration and perhaps some orchestra, somewhere, will want to play this Smiley

A question though: has anyone figured out the lyrics (the only thing besides the Aahs and Oohs). I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I'm assuming it's Italian, or some other Latin language: [Sven ti cuna faji kyra // a-ha genti stati cheno] or something around those lines. Anyone have a clue of the actual lyrics, their origin, the language, or even its meaning (if it's not fake latin as used in epic movie trailer music)?

I ended up writing out the four-part harmonies for melody / voice-leading recognition, although I'll end up squeezing it all together for the piano solo version. Have a look (work-in-progress): Best of Times (Piano/Choral Redux)

On another note, Happy V-day!

Aand another update. Probably my favorite song from the entire soundtrack: Best of Times is done.

24-Best of Times

For the curious ones, or the vocally inclined, there's also a choral arrangement (pardon the parallel 5ths and 8ths; my 4-part voice-leading isn't what it used to be).

24-Best of Times (choral)

Awesome.  I am continually impressed by your dedication to arranging every piece for piano, and now even choral.

I have to ask, are you a composer by trade, or is composing/arranging just something you like to do in your spare time?

I'm not sure what exactly my trade is ... yet. I'm currently a film/digital media major at school, but music has always been an interest of mine. I compose, arrange and perform on the side, but the music industry just seems, well, quite unstable by itself.

Sebastian, cool I'll try this out! The lyrics in Best of Times are semi made up. The singer came over, and before we recorded her part, flipped through one of her latin or italian books, and picked out syllables that we liked. Something phonetically like:

splen day u na, fa chay kay la,
ma hah chen day, star vee chee no

Also, I'm really bad at playing piano. If anyone is able to play these on a real instrument (piano, guitar, harmonica, whatever) and stick it on youtube, I'd love to see it!
