At first, I thought there was already an app, but then I looked at Wikipedia again. Tongue
I agree.

World of Goo is written in C++ (as many games are) but as far as I know Objective C and C++ can be mixed to some extent.

Because it's been ported to Mac already, and the iPhone is technically a mini-Mac, I can't imagine getting the code to run would be a big undertaking.

The biggest hurdle I reckon would be utilising the touch and tilt controls effectively.  You need the controls to be perfect right from the beginning for the game to be a success on the platform.

Having said that, WOG is a game I'm hanging out for on iPhone.  =)

It would be !AWESOME! to capitalize words and put exclamation marks around them. But that's off topic, so I agree.

I don't think Wog needs tilt controls, touch controls would work well.
It shouldn't be too hard to port it as the iPhone uses the Darwin kernel just like a Mac.

I think tilt controls would bring a whole new concept, a good one, where each goo ball leans so you would have to lean the iPod to get the taller towers over large gaps, like in many of the levels in the game.

I think world of goo would be the best game for the iphone ever! I was dissapointed not to find it at the appstore, i think it would become a #1 app in a day. Unfortunatedly there is another game that stealed (my point of view) the idea of world of goo, it is called "Tiki Towers" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMG4GimCzdc ) and is very bad and degradates all the love and magic you two guys programmed into world of goo. Even the musicstyle goes in the same direction but misses it. I am hoping that you two soon make the plattform-transfer to the iphone, that would be the great news of the year. Just by imagining the possibilities of gravity and touch-multitouch with your game concept makes me dream awake!!! PLEASE WRITE IT FOR US!!!! ;-)
Thank you!!!

It differs in several major ways. No goo balls to build strands, just a predetermind number of sticks that can be moved. Five apes must get themselves a bananna using the geometry and aforementioned sticks. No pipe to build towards.

What is the same? The sticks make triangle shapes as they are the most sturdy shape...

Blatent copy? No. Just has a small similarity. Would fail if claim for copyright or intelectual theft was made as too much is different.

tiki towers isn't the same as world of goo, and i'm played them both (on wiiware, didn't know there was a Iphone version of tiki towers).

also, the devs of tiki towers were working on that game for over a year, long before the known world ever heard of the wonderful world of goo. they wouldn't have even had time to copy wog if that was what they wanted to do.
