I just pre-ordered World of Goo and when I try to enter the magic key I get a message saying "Your license key could not be validated". What should I do?

To activate the preview the game needs to contact our server. This can fail for several reasons, all of which will result in the error message above.

• Sometimes it gets blocked by antivirus software, firewall software, or malware protection software. If you get a popup asking you if you want to allow World Of Goo to use the internet, say yes. If you don't get such a notification, try disabling all firewall/antivirus programs before you put in the magic key. You can re-enable them right after the game is activated.
• We've had reports of people who use a VPN not being able to register when the VPN is inactive, even if the computer has another internet connection. Connecting to the VPN solved this problem
• If you are using a proxy server you will run into the same problem and we don't have a solution for that yet.

I pre-ordered World of Goo and I haven't gotten a confirmation email. WTF?

There are two possible reasons for this. First, the confirmation email is sent to the email address you have in your PayPal account. Make sure you check that account. If that email address is out of date and you no longer have access to it, send us the PayPal confirmation number for your purchase (accessible via your PayPal account) and a new email address and we'll resend the email. Another possible reason is that you paid with an e-check and those take a few days to clear. You'll get the email as soon as it does. If it's been a week since you ordered and you still haven't gotten the email, let us know.

Can I pre-order for Mac? Linux? Wii?

You can pre-order the PC (Windows), Mac, and Linux versions, but the preview you would get with a pre-order is PC-only. We can not take pre-orders for Wii because we will not be selling that version directly. The magic key you get after pre-ordering will work on PC, Mac, and Linux, so you'll be able to play it on whatever bizzarre multi-computer setup you have at home :)

My son/daughter/wife/husband/dog wants to play World of Goo but they can't finish the levels because they can't beat my totally awesome scores. How do I reset the game?

On Windows XP, look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\2DBoy\WorldOfGoo. There should be a file called pers.dat in there. Just delete that file and the game will be reset. You'll have to enter you license key again the next time you run the game. On Vista the file is located in C:\ProgramData\2DBoy\WorldOfGoo.

I'm dying to pre-order World of Goo but I don't know if my crappy computer can run it. What are the minimum system requirements?

Basically, if you computer is less than 5 years old you should be able to run World of Goo no problem. For the preview version (this may change for the final version) you need a 1GHz or faster CPU, at least 512MB of memory, Direct3D 9 or newer, and pretty much any old 3D graphics accelerator.

Is 2D Boy a real boy?

No, he's just the name of our studio. He doesn't know he's not real, so don't tell him. We don't want 2D tears.

It will take longer than a week to make, and less than a year. We plan to be done soon. Kyle is a paranoid perfectionist and a control freak, so it will be out when it is stunning and beautiful. :)

Does 2D Boy like 2D Boys or 2D Girls?

2D Boy isn't a real boy (see above). Please no fraternizing with 2D Boy, he exists in only two dimensions, which means he has zero thickness, which clearly means he is very sharp. If you fall in love with 2D Boy, you will only get hurt.
